My first sewing machine!

Does it look like it cost $20? Yes. But does it sew? Heck yeeeeah.


The first project: A mini pillow for K's chair. Much to K's dismay, I've definitely caught the crafting bug. K is doomed to lose social acceptance if my visions of sewing all her kindergarten outfits play out.

good job! what's next? is k going to have the most unique duvet on the block? an entirely custom fall wardrobe?

Christine, thanks for the cheer. I desperately need it! But in the interest of full disclosure, the pillow in the picture is made from the fabric of an existing pillowcase. So I only sewed one side of the pillow. And for even fuller disclosure, I initially just used fabric glue. J commented that it looked like a thrift store freebie and even K threw it on the ground contemptuously. So only then did I sew the open seams closed, and even then, after a humbling 5-minute tutorial from J (of all people!!). I have accordingly changed the title to this post...
